Well, I've decided to revive this old blog and start posting some of my favorite pictures again. Hoping I can keep up with this... and will probably try Project 365 again this coming year depending on how things go with the birth of our third child. There may be a few days that I won't be getting pics but I'm not going to be strict with myself about actually posting a new pic every day like I have in the past...

Anyways... I had some fun yesterday prepping for a tutorial I was writing and here's a picture of our Christmas tree... This was soooo much fun, that I'm hoping to play with this a little bit more and do some hearts and maybe try to get a pic of the kids with the fun bokeh background.

I'm going to try to bring this blog back to life again. I am going to attempt to turn this into a 365 photo blog. This will become all about photography and the scrapbooking posts will be posted on my main blog. Be sure to check it out because from time to time I'll be offering a freebie template for you to download. My goal for this blog will be to take a picture a day in 2010. I'll also continue the i <3 faces "fix it friday" post processing... I may even do some of my own and for even more fun, I may have you do them along with me since post processing is my most favorite part of photography. I really want to grow this year though in my photography skills and am hoping by taking my camera out every day I'll grow in my creative thinking and just general photo taking skills. Be on the look out for some challenges from me too. I'd love to be inspired by my readers.

This was just a quick edit... I just brightened it up in LR2 using the direct positive preset and then went into PSE6 to crop it and frame it and add a drop shadow.

Gosh, I just love the picture for this week, such a sweet baby and really didn't need much fixing and such amazing catchlights in the eyes. I just fixed the exposure a tad bit to brighten it up and then added a summer haze preset in LR2. I then opened it up in PSE6 and added a couple textures and some bokeh overlays.. I had bought a few textures and overlays on Black Friday and it was so fun to play with them on this picture.

I'm having a blast doing the challenges on The Digi Dare. I'm learning to step outside of the box and try new things and I was actually the random pick winner of last week's dare. This week's dare you get a free kit just for participating and it's really cute and I had a blast putting together the page for it. My favorite number is 3 and I try to always do things in 3 so I especially enjoyed this project.

Fix It Friday #37

I didn't work much on this one but isn't she a beautiful little girl? I basically just lightened it up a bit in LR2 and cropped it to put her face in the upper 1/3 corner. In PSE6 I added a touch of texture and brightened her eyes a little bit using Coffee Shop Bright Eyes Action.

Holidays in Hand Workshop - Assignment 1

I'm signed up to do the Holidays in Hand scrapbooking workshop and I'm really excited for what I'm going to be learning and really excited to be putting my holiday memories down in a scrapbook. From time to time I believe some of the assignments will be just journaling, so I'll be doing that here on this blog.

Today is Day 1 and we are to refocus our holiday values and make some goals for this holiday season. The assignment is to write our goals down.

My goals for the holiday season are:
- really focus on Christ and what he did for me so many years ago
- focus on my family and just spending more quality time with them, participating in daily family worship
- to take my camera out at least once a day to capture my kids as they grow up and the wonder of Christmas to them
- to really focus on advent this year, using The Advent Book, lighting the candles and having a time of worship.
- connect with friends we don't get to see very often
- commit to reading the Bible daily and spending time in prayer

Fix It Friday #36

Ah, I'm back to using and loving textures. :) Today's Fix It Friday on I Heart Faces Blog is of course another cutie. I first lightened it up in LR2 and then lightened up the face and neck a bit more. I sharpened the eyes which really didn't need it and I think I overdid it a bit, lol. I also warmed it up a bit and used a couple presets to get the color I wanted. I then added a couple textures in PSE6. Other than the oversharpened eyes I really like my edit.

Scrappin' Saturday on Sunday

Well, it was Isaac's birthday on Friday so his party was on Saturday. International Digital Scrapbooking Day was on Saturday too. So, throughout the day many scrapbooking stores had great sales and challenges and scavenger hunts. Whenever I got a chance to play during the day I did and entered a few of them. This afternoon I found out that I won by random drawing two of the scavenger hunts. That was exciting for me and I was able to get a few free scrapbooking kits. Some of the designers also were giving freebies but I really missed out on most of them since I didn't have the time to go hunting. Today, I entered a few layout challenges and here are the layouts I designed. It was fun and a great excuse to work on editing the party pics too.

What a beautiful girl for today's Fix It Friday on I Heart Faces. I especially loved it because both of my kids have brown eyes and it's so hard to capture that sparkle in their eyes. With just a little bit of lightening up in LR2 the sparkle showed up. I did a little bit of warming up in PSE6 too.

On Monday we had a Ladie's Night Out with some of my scrapbooking friends. We went to Archivers and as always enjoyed the conversation and catching up on what everyone is up to while doing a craft we love. Two of my friends actually are card makers and it's always fun to watch them make these beautiful cards and I enjoy being the recipient of them. Well, I've been digital scrapbooking for a month now and realized that night that I much prefer digital scrapping. Part of it is the cost. When I buy a digital item, I can use it over and over again. Usually when I need to buy a sticker for my paper page I have to buy several stickers with it and I only want the one sticker so the other stickers end up going to Moriah and not to scrapbooking. Plus, I can only use it once. There's no using an element I like over and over again w/o having it buy it every single time. I've decided I'm going to just finish Isaac's one year book which seems so plain compared to my digital pages and then I'm going to start card making again.

So, here are the pages I worked on but still need to add some journaling to them.

Fix It Friday #34

What a beautiful little girl for this week's Fix It Friday on I Heart Faces. I used Lightroom 2 and Photoshop Elements 6 for this edit. I lightened it up a bit and sharpened the eyes in LR. I also cropped it a bit in LR. In PSE, I cloned out some of the bruises on her legs and then warmed up the picture a little bit and brightened up her eyes. I know I usually use textures in my edits but decided not to this week.

Wanted to share these pages I did this week... I had wanted to try my hand at blending... I have a lot of practice I need to do but I'm feeling like I'm getting the hang of it.

This first page the background pic was taken at the arboretum this week.

The second page was just an overlay of the same picture used.

This week's Fix It on I Heart Faces is another cutie and a very underexposed picture. I lightened it up in LR and then did a white balance in PSE6... I wasn't happy with my "fix" so I converted it to black & white.

Here is my edit - I used LIghtroom2 to lighten it up, crop it and clone out the feet in the upper left corner. I then used PSE6 to add a texture and lighten up the eyes a bit more.

Monthly Challenges
